City to Develop Six New Zones in Accordance with Twelfth Five-year Plan
The city will be developing six new zones in the city as a part of goals set out in the twelfth five-year plan. According to the plan, the six new areas that will be developed into six new functional zones.
The six new zones are Qianhai Hong Kong/Shenzhen Modern Service Industries Cooperation Zone, Guangming New Zone, Pingshan New Zone, Longhua New Town, Dapeng Peninsula Coastal Tourism Zone, Universiade New Town, which will all be fully developed by the year 2013. Construction for five of the new zones are already in progress and only the Universiade New Town is still being designed as a center for creative and high-end service industries.
Twelve strategic emerging industrial zones have long been planned. These include the Dashahe innovation corridor, Baguang emerging industry zone, Shenzhen software industrial zone, Huawei telecommunications zone, Pingshan new energy automobile base and the Pingshan national biology industry.
In addition, 11 industrial clusters have been added including Luohu Liantang Internet industrial cluster, Futian international e-commerce zone, the Guangming solar energy industrial cluster, OCT creative cultural zone and Dafen Oil Painting Village.
