ISNS Participates in ACAMIS Rugby
The 26th, 27th and 28th of October saw ISNS enter 13 talented students into this year’s ACAMIS Rugby 10’s tournament at Dulwich College, Shanghai. A total of 8 international schools entered the tournament, creating a great opportunity for our students to meet and compete against students from all over the world. ISNS played a total of 5 matches, each lasting for 20 minutes.
The ISNS team consisted of 13 boys – Will Ha, Jeffrey Tsai, Max Chen, Simon Lam, Byron Rosenthal, Scherwin Towfighi, Fabio Schmidt, Paul Rudolph, Alexis Bencteux, Patxi Bencteux, Joseph LeRoux, Cedric Vrand and Jonas Merran (Captain).
Despite competing against schools with vast experience that had participated in the tournament for many years, the ISNS team performed valiantly and was able to contain their oppositions for large periods of the games. They also showed great attacking flare and often came close to causing an upset by scoring tries against some of the tournament’s strongest teams.
However, despite their best efforts, ISNS were unable to avoid defeat in each of their 5 games. They competed admirably and repeatedly put their bodies on the line, but inevitably their opponent’s superior experience and expertise came through.
The team did however leave the tournament with their heads held high. They showed they could compete with some of the biggest international schools in the country and would not shy away from any challenges, which were thrown at them. The progress they made over the three days was staggering and the technical improvements each player made were remarkable.
They now look forward towards next year with optimism and self-belief. They will return to the tournament next year a much stronger and more mature team and will look to build upon the fantastic performance they put in this year. Congratulations ISNS!
A special mention goes to Alexis Bencteux who was named ISNS MVP of the tournament and Jonas Merran for his professionalism and great leadership as captain.
