Chinese Science Fiction Writers Win Xingyun Awards
The annual Xingyun (Nebula) Awards organized by the World Chinese Science Fiction Association was held last Saturday. During the awards ceremony ten science fiction writers, organizations and publications won the second Xingyun Awards. These are the only international awards made for Chinese-language sci-fi writers.
Ten categories where included in the awards namely best saga novel, best short story, best commentary and best writer. The only awards that were left vacant were in the best science fiction, film and TV and most popular novel for mobile phone readers.
Wu Yan, the president of the World Chinese Science Fiction Association said that science fiction is important since it reflects the nation’s and residents imagination and creativity. He hopes that giving recognition to the award winners will expose and Help the Chinese culture go global.
The winners were selected from 47 nominees, and nearly 150 writers, publishers, editors and critics from all over China plus delegates from the United States, Canada, Australia and Japan also present during the awards and presentation ceremony making it the largest gathering of science fiction lovers.
