Shenzhen to Experience Total Lunar Eclipse in December
On December 10, Shenzhen will experience a total lunar eclipse that will last for six hours. Shenzhen National Astronomical Observatory said that the eclipse will begin at 7:33 p.m. and will end at 1:32 a.m.
Weather permitting, it will be the longest lunar eclipse visible to the naked eye to happen in Shenzhen since 2000. During the eclipse a popular science promotion will be held from 7:30 to 11 pm at the Shenzhen International Garden and Flower Expo Park that will have 25 telescopes available for residents to use. The promotion has been organized by the Shenzhen Astronomical Observatory.
Hong Kong residents can also view the lunar eclipse since the Hong Kong Space Museum will be offering the use of telescopes and other astronomical instruments under the guidance of its museum staff.
Last total lunar eclipse happened on June 16 if this year, while the next lunar eclipse will happen in June 4, 2012.
