Shenzhen to Build more Colleges and Universities According to the Most Recent Five-year Plan

Shenzhen to build more colleges and universities according to its five year planIn the city’s most recent five year plan the city bureau for development of social affairs is planning to build eleven new colleges and universities in Shenzhen. When this plan pushes through it will have the combined capacity of more than 150,000 students.

Shenzhen City University will be built and will offer undergraduate education to students holding Shenzhen hukou. The Shenzhen Institute of Science and Technology will also open for students that have graduated from vocational schools. Shenzhen will also set up two international colleges that will establish foreign universities and education organizations. This is all in addition to South University of Science and Technology of China planning to increase their capacity by 2015.

The city is also inviting more top institutions to establish campuses in Shenzhen, while postgraduates schools of Qinghua University, Bejing University and the Harbin Institute of Technology are planning to open independent campuses in Shenzhen. The city will also invest more in building more kindergartens and schools, there are several schools that are being constructed and as soon they are finished there will be an additional 25,000 new places available for students.
