City Unveiled Plans to Renovate 11 Industrial AreasA drafted plan was unveiled yesterday by the city’s Urban Planning Land and Resources Commission to renovate the city’s 11 industrial areas into industrial zones, commercial centers or residential communities.

Only one section in Futian District will be renovated, where the Tehao industrial zone in Meilin Subdistrict will be turned into a residential and commercial area. The area located north of the Wutong Mountain tunnel in the Shaotoujiao Subdistrict, will be turned into a residential estate. The Diwen industrial zone in Guangming New Zone will be turned into residential and commercial spaces.

Five sections in Bao’an, including company headquarters in Xixiang Subdistrict and Longhua commercial center in addition to three areas in Longgang district, which include the Pongxing industrial zone and the Longteng industrial zone will be upgraded or renovated for industrial, commercial and residential use.

From the 11 areas that will undergo renovation, the Longhua commercial center, which is comprised of 430,000 square meters and Longteng  industrial zone, with 390,000 square meters are the among the largest areas.
