Grade One Thanksgiving Picnic
This is what grade 1 explored in October and November during their study of Thanksgiving. In the United States and Canada, Thanksgiving is a time to gather with family and friends to celebrate the good things that have happened over the past year and to be thankful for the wonderful things we have, such as family, friends, good health, and security. Traditionally it was also a time to celebrate the harvest season and give thanks for a good crop. Thanksgiving is celebrated in several countries around the world and shares the common theme of being thankful.
On Thursday, November 24th, grade one concluded their study of Thanksgiving by having a picnic. We invited all of the grade one families to join us for lunch in the Secret Garden. This is one of our favorite grade one events because everyone has a chance to relax and get to know each other better. Families brought in some amazing food from around the world. It was exciting to see the students trying new things and sharing their favorite foods with others.
Grade one would like to thank all of the families for coming and helping us celebrate Thanksgiving.
Throughout the year, grade one studies celebrations that are special to the students in grade one and those that are important in China. If you would like to come in and talk to the grade one classes about an upcoming holiday your family celebrates, please let you your child’s teacher know.
