Shenzhen and the Netherlands to Build Low Carbon Town

Shenzhen and Netherlands to Build Low Carbon Town The Netherlands and Shenzhen are planning to collaborate and build a low carbon town in Pingdi in Longgang District to promote environmental protection. The first phase will cover an area of 25 square kilometers and will include Gaoqiao Industrial Park and will cover an additional 4 square kilometers of area.

Based on an agreement signed last September, the town will be a model of low carbon economic development. The project will displays the country’s development in the low carbon industry, environmental protection, urban construction and management. The project will also create a platform for technological communication that will assist in the exchange and promotion of China’s cooperation with European countries.

Shenzhen is determined to become a leading city in the low carbon economy and is looking forward to any cooperation that they can sign. Experts have been invited to help formulate the development plan for the town and once the detailed plans for the town will be completed the construction on the key areas and in the Gaoqiao Industrial Park can start with progress to be seen by 2012.
