Annual Charity Marathon Sees More Donations and Particpants
Seven thousand participants and 124 expatriates successfully raised more than 2.3 million yuan in the third annual Run for Love Shenzhen Mountain Marathon. Last year’s charity run raised 40,000 yuan, a far cry from this year’s amount raised. The number of participants also increased compared to last year’s marathon.
This year the participants competed in three categories, a full 42 kilometer run, a half marathon and a 10 kilometer run. The marathon was set around Dameisha, Xiaomeisha and Maluanshan. The money earned mainly came from registration fees, personal and company donations.
The funds will then be used in two charity programs of the One Foundation which was created by Actor Jet Li, will help children with autism and brain paralysis. Li was also present in yesterday’s marathon along with other celebrities to give encouragement to the participants of the marathon.
Part of the funds generated will be used to construct amusement facilities for children in underdeveloped and disaster stricken ares in the western parts of China.
