Popular Restaurants Already Fully Booked for Chinese New Year
Some of the most popular restaurants in Shenzhen are already fully booked just five weeks before the Chinese New Year, which is the country’s most important festival. Prices for booking a restaurant have already risen ten percent compared to last year because of inflation and labor costs.
One restaurant started accepting orders and bookings for the first round of Chinese New Year’s Eve dinner that will be held from 4 pm to 7 pm and there are only a few number of small tables left for the second round of dinner that will be held from 7 pm to 10 pm. To dine in a private room with a table for eight persons is said to cost around 3,000 yuan plus an additional 20 percent service charge.
Restaurants were raising their prices around 6 to 10 percent over the year because of the rising costs of materials and labor costs. Since they have to pay extra wages to employees working during the holiday. Also the costs of grains, meat, cereals and vegetables have also risen in the past year.
Restaurants owners say that the most popular dinner is priced around 2,000 yuan with dinner packages that cost around 10,000 yuan also offered to cater to rich diners.
