Shenzhen Plans to be a World Recognized Science Innovation Center
Shenzhen is setting its eyes on becoming a world recognized regional science innovation center in southeast Asia on the last year of Shenzhen’s 12th five year development plan. In order to achieve this goal the city will focus on ten sectors.
These sectors are integrated circuits, information and software service, environment protection and new energy, new materials, medical equipment, biology and technology.these industries are expected to further improve Shenzhen’s competitiveness. The city will create the Shenzhen Science Innovation Commission an agency that will help coordinate the work in the ten sectors.
An establishment of a two State level laboratories that will research on metamaterials batteries and agricultural genomics. Cooperation agreements were also signed between the city government and Shenzhen BIG and Kuangchi Institute of Advanced Technologies to work on the science development.
The city Internet industry is expected to reach 110 billion yuan by 2013, and by 2015 Shenzhen will be the largest industrial base for cloud computing in South China.
