Celebrate Christmas in ShenzhenJust one more day until Christmas, the city is filled with blinking lights, and Christmas music fills the air shows how the city is transformed into a festive atmosphere, were theme parks, shopping malls, supermarkets, hotels and pubs are busy preparing and planning for celebrations.

From 7:30 pm to 11 pm the Meilin Christina Church will be offering Christmas carols, scripture readings and service lessons on Christmas Eve. Longgang Church on Shenhui Road will be giving dances and performances on the morning and afternoon on Christmas Day.

Christmas dinners are being offered by several hotels and restaurants in the city with an average price of 3,000 yuan for two persons, though there are less expensive options with some dinners goeing for 600 yuan for two people and including several performances and door prizes. Some restaurants are giving away free presents, Christmas hats, candy and toys to children and families that come in for Christmas dinner.

Some supermarkets are offering patrons imported frozen turkeys in different sizes, and wholesale markets and farm produce markets are selling locally bred turkeys.

Since most of them don’t have families in Shenzhen the expat community looks forward to Christmas gatherings and parties that are usually spent in bars, and bars owned by expats are a great place to celebrate Christmas, which always have a large crowd of expats celebrating with friends.
