Government Agencies to Create Official Department Microblogs
Several government agencies in Shenzhen are starting to catch up with technology today by creating microblogs on Tencent’s microblogging Website. Seventy-nine accounts were unveiled by Tencent, and have been verified and managed by thirty-eight Shenzhen government departments with their most popular microblog having 2.5 million followers.
One microblog, owned by the Shenzhen Municipal Public Security Bureau created on Sina Weibo, has ranked as the most popular microblog with around 820,000 followers. Many online web users wonder why the Shenzhen Municipal Government has yet to create their official microblog.
The microblog created by the Shenzhen Civil affairs Bureau was reported to be the most user friendly and already has 480,000 followers, 70 percent of whom are actively participating on the microblog. A spokesperson for the civil affairs bureau said that they assigned nine employees to the microblog that take turns to answers questions and queries that were are asked by residents.
Microblogs have become great platforms that allow residents to communicate and interact directly with residents and government officials. By answering questions in a timely manner, the blogs provide an excellent means of communication between the government and citizens.
