Bike Rentals to Begin Trial Operations with 3,000 Bicycles

Bike Rental to Start Trial Operation with 3,000 BicyclesThe first government funded bicycle rental system has begun trial operations in Yantian District. The bicycle rental system is composed of a management center, a bicycle rental station and service stations with a total of 3,000 bicycles to be available.

The number of bikes will increase to 5,000, plus the rental operation company have already issued 1,000 rental cards since December 15, with residents aged 16 to 70 applying for a rental card to have access to the bicycle rental system.

Residents living in Yantian will have to pay a 200 yuan deposit to get the card, non-residents, however will need to pay 500 yuan for the card. The card can be used to rent a bike for one hour for free, and an additional 2 yuan that will be charged for every additional hour. Residents who own a Transcard can also use it to rent the bicycles.

Once fully operational, more residents are expected to use the bike rental system especially those people coming to Yantian to ride bikes at Dameisha and Xiaomeisha areas.
