More Passengers Starting to Take the High Speed Trains
By the first day of 2012, the number of passengers that chose to ride on the high-speed trains from Shenzhen to Guangzhou reached 15,000. Most of the passengers that took the train were returning home days ahead of the Lunar New Year Festival.
Since the high-speed rail began services on December 25, more that 60,000 passengers have taken the rail services, which show a daily average of 12,000 passengers. There are 36 pairs of high speed trains that run from between Shenzhen and Guangzhou.
To board the train passengers needs to swipe a second generation ID card embedded with an IC card at the check in gates after they have bought their tickets online. Passengers that are heading to Changsha and Wuhan are reminded that they need to transfer at least an hour before so they can purchase an make ticket reservations online. Passengers on this line must transfer at the Guangzhou South Railway Station, though they needn’t exit the station.
