More Development Plans for Mangrove Bay Revealed
According to the city’s urban planning commission, mangrove bay in Nanshan District will be developed further into a seaside scenic spot which will offer different activities that will combine tourism with culture, art and commerce.
The Mangrove Bay has a land area of 664.29 hectares and is expected to receive 4 to 5 million tourists a year once redevelopment is completed. Seven parking lots will be constructed and five of which will be located at the seaside park. Plans to develop an underground parking lot is also being discussed by the commission. To protect the nature reserve in the area, the commission will be designing a slow transportation system and the use of bicycles will be promoted, with more bike lanes to be placed along major roads including Binhai Boulevard, Baishi Road and Shahe Road.
Renovation on the Daxin area in Nanshan District is also in the plans. Daxin has an area of 455.98 hectares and plans to turn the place into a comprehensive modern urban zone combining residential estates with office buildings, commercial and recreational centers.
