Guangdong Hongyuan in Pole Position in the CBA
Defending champion Guangdong Hongyuan grab the pole position for the Chinese Basketball League by defeating the Beijing Ducks 112-99. Guangdong foreign duo James Singleton and Aeron Brooks played well and dominated the game.
Brooks averaged 32 points and 8 assists while Singleton got 29 points. This was also Beijing fifth loss in their past six games. Beijing had 18 straight defeats in their home court against Guangdong in the 2001-2002 season.
During the start of the game Guangdong led the game with 11-5, then Beijing bounced back by drawing the score to 14-13. Both teams weren’t able to grab a commanding lead and ended the first quarter with Guangdong leading 30-29. In the second quarter Guangding sent Brooks in and took the upper hand and gave Guangdong an 11 point lead at 58-47.
During the last quarter of the game Guangdong players took every chance the can get and scored points while Beijing struggled to gain more points. A three pointer from Wang Shipeng sealed Guangdong’s Victory.
