Four Simple Tips for a Healthy and Fit New Year
- Be Realistic This is probably the largest contributing factor to why people stop their exercise routine or give up on their fitness program for the year. Being realistic is very important to success in your fitness for the year. It makes no sense setting yourself up for failure by over estimating your abilities. Are you going to be able to train every morning? Maybe not. So rather than schedule it and force to do that, initially aim for 2-3 times a week for exercise. It is far better to slowly build solid habits with fitness rather than try for the ultimate fitness program and not make it and get discouraged and stop altogether.
- Schedule your Time Schedule your times for exercise and develop good habits with your health and fitness. By setting time aside for your fitness you ensure that you won’t be “too busy” or “preoccupied”.
- Motivate Yourself Motivation is key to developing a good habit, but how do you find motivation. For everyone their motivation is different, they are motivated to work by different things and different goals. Whatever motivates you, harness that to help you stick with your plan and goals. For some people they just need the right music to help them finish that last 2k of a run, for others they are fueled to exercise and be healthy because their long-term health depends on it.
- Ask Yourself Why you are Doing This The last tip for sticking with your fitness plan for the coming year is to always remind yourself why you are doing this. Ask the right questions constantly throughout the year and remind yourself why this is important and necessary to get you to where you want to be and change your life and health for the best. I hope this helps to get you started.
Wishing you the best in 2012!
