Shenzhen Ranks Second in Public Donations
During the annual Conference of Philanthropy China 2011 in Beijing, Shenzhen was awarded with the China Charity Promoter of 2011 along with Beijing, Shanghai, and Xingyang. Shenzhen ranked second in public donations in 2011 and became the most generous city.
Shenzhen form a charity network that covered much of the city, district, subdistricts and communities. The city also forms nearly a thousand public charity programs that were launched to help millions of people that are in difficulty. At the end of 2011, there were already 800 social charity groups and 270,000 registered volunteers in the city. Also in 2011 more than 1.97 million people have donated around 394 tons of blood.
This year, Shenzhen will be focusing on developing better public charity credibility, philanthropy platforms and forums that will release charitable information under better government guidance with strict discipline.
The conference was the second annual exchange event held for China’s philanthropy industry that was launched by over 20 charity organizations under the supervision of the Ministry of Civil Affairs.
