Stricter Measures to be Implemented to Improve Air Quality in Shenzhen
This year Shenzhen will be focusing in environmental management and new air quality standard. The city will implement stricter measures in improving air quality, lowering PM2.5 (particulate matter) and monitoring data for PM2.5 as well. The new monitoring system for PM2.5 will check for tiny particles or droplets in the air that are two and one half microns of less in width.
Reduction targets for vehicle exhaust emissions will also be implemented since it is one of the major causes of air pollution in the city. The new emission detecting system will soon take effect and will be constantly monitoring vehicles that are known to giving off the highest amount of emissions. Gasoline upgrades will be promoted more this year and more policies will be given to those purchasing new energy vehicles.
The city will also be tightening measures on controlling the VOC or volatile organic compound emissions and dust pollution. To further reduce VOC emissions, the selling and use of volatile wood lacquer and construction coating will be banned this year, until coating production lines will be upgraded.
