Heavy Fog Causes Flight Delays and Cancelations
Due to heavy fog, the Shenzhen International Airport was forced to cancel 37 flights, and have delayed almost 200 flights between one to two hours; the fog also forced 21 flights to land in other cities.
Three flights that left the city were forced to return and land because of low visibility. By 3 pm things returned to normal and the airport added 80 more flights to their line up to fly the delayed passengers out of the airport. An orange fog warning signal was issued by the city meteorological observatory that stands for foggy weather with visibility of less than 200 meters.
With continuing rainfall in South China, flights going in and out of Shenzhen, Haikou and Zhanjiang will be delayed. The city will be experiencing more rain and cloudy weather during the week, but the city observatory said there is a possibility of the rain weakening in a few days time. Temperature is also expected to decrease due to a strong cold front with the lowest temperature forecast to hit 9 degrees Celcius.
