Thousands Line Up for the iPhone 4S
The iPhone 4S finally reached Shenzhen last Friday, and even with the cold weather, crowds gathered in front of authorized Apple shops and lined up in long queues around 6:30 am. One person heard from his microblog that the first batch of phones was limited so he decided to get one early from a China Unicom store on Chunfeng road.
China Unicom sold around 10,000 iPhone 4S units in last Friday’s release, stores such as Sunion, Sunning and Shundian said that their iPhone 4S also sold but not as many at China Unicom stores. Store representatives said that they sold around 40 units of the phone and the have enough iPhone 4S in reserve for interested customers.
Small retailers in Huaqianbei are also selling the mainland version of the authorize iPhone 4S, though the Hong Kong version is cheaper. An iPhone 4S under China Unicom costs 286 yuan per month for three years or 386 yuan per month for two years.
