First Phase of Flame Tower Now Open to the Public
The first phase of the 2011 Summer Universiade flame tower is now open to the public. The first phase of the tower consists of a square, greenbelts, water pool, sculptures and chairs. The tower is the newest landmark addition in Shenzhen. A 285 meter long sidewalk was also built so residents can easily get to the Spring Cocoon from Shenzhen Bay.
Now the city is planning to collect suggestions and opinions from residents on how to design the second phase of the tower. The city has already several plans in how they will developed the second phase of the tower which includes a lighting project, environment upgrading project, torch equipment installation, a street sculpture gallery and flyover project.
The city is also planning to built and interactive system so that residents can control the planned lighting system and fountain projects by hand. The lights installed on the tower have controls that will allow it to change according to the temperature and weather.
