City Government Delivered on Its Promises Made to Improve Residents Lives
Last year to help improve the lives of its residents the government made promises, such as more jobs, better education, healthcare benefits, wider public transportation and crime prevention. The city government was able to deliver 32 of the promises.
46,000 jobless residents were able to find jobs with the help of the city government, by hosting 469 free job fairs that provided 50,000 new jobs. Two jobs fairs for fresh graduates were also held that provided 23,000 jobs for them. Also the city government had fundraisers through several channels that helped completed 10,000 government subsidized apartments and started construction of an additional 76,000 more affordable housing.
14,2000 school places were added to the city’s nine year compulsory education, along with the 6,5000 new high school places. Two new schools were created to be the main education facilities namely the Bao’an Senior Middle School and the Henggang Senior Middle School were also completed. And to further support the development of private schools the city government increased their funding.
Doctors were added to health centers found in residential communities last year, and around 32 million residents benefited were seen by the doctors, also the introduction of an online health record system help managed patients at 24 hospitals in the city.
The completion and opening of five new metro lines added an additional 110 kilometers of track made it easier for residents to travel as well as the 168 special buses lanes that was also added in the city roads. To enrich the city’s cultural life various cultural performances were held which includes the second China Shenzhen International Piano Concerto Competition, plus the addition of new parks, hiking and cycling trails increased awareness of environmental protection among residents.
