Li Na to Lead Group to Qualify for the 2012 Asia/Oceania Fed Cup in Luo Hu
French Open Champion Li Na together with four other female Chinese players will be appearing at the Luohu Tennis Court tomorrow. They will be competing for the World Group qualification for the 2012 Fed Cup of Asia/Oceania Zone Group. Teams for 17 other countries and regions will also be participating in the Pool A and B competitions.
China belongs to the Pool A group together with seven other nations and regions. The winners in pool A will then face the winners of Pool B on Saturday that will decide on which nation that will advance to the World Group II play offs in April. Nations that finishes in the bottom of the Pool A and B will play each other to determine which nation will be relegated to the Asia/Oceania Zone Group for 2013.
Li together with Zheng Jie, Zhang Shuai and Peng Shuai have already started their training and is not talking to the press, except during news conference arranged by the organizers. Li is currently ranked No. 9 in the world Peng is No. 17 while Zheng is ranked 35.
During the first day of competition, Singapore and Kyrgyzstan won in Pool A, while in pool B had India and Turkmenistan winning.
