Global Citizenship at SIS
At SIS, one of our expected learning results for all students, grades K-12, is to demonstrate global citizenship. Global citizenship can take place at many levels. At a basic level, this concept is integrated into curriculum at SIS where students develop an awareness of global issues through their studies.
At a higher level, all grade levels work to foster compassion for fellow citizens by working as a group to make a difference in this world. There have been numerous efforts this year to support others. China Day not only helped students and the greater community learn about cultural traditions in China, it also raised funds which supported many individuals and organizations.
The ultimate goal for our students is to have students not only enhance their understanding of global citizenship, but also to take action independently. At the elementary school, students from every class were honored for not only their understanding of global citizenship, but also how they are taking action to make this world a better place.
At SIS we encourage you, as parents, to foster the concept of global citizenship at home. This can happen not only through conversations with your children, but it can occur through actions you take as a family.
