Unified Bicycle Rental System to Offer Convenient Services to Residents

Unified Bicycle Rental System to Offer Convenient Services to ResidentsResidents in Shenzhen are hoping for the city to implement a unified bike rental system that will offer more convenient services to residents and promote an environmentally friendly public transportation. Several districts in the city are offering public bicycles services but operates with different systems that is inconvenient for those who want to rent bikes in different areas.

The bike rental system in Yantian is less that a year old, and has 160 rental spots with over 4,000 bikes available for rent. Yantian residents can rent this bikes to travel in and around the district for a deposit of 200 yuan with the first hour free and charges 2 yuan for every hour after. However residents from other districts is required to deposit 500 yuan to rent the bicycles.

Longgang District introduced its bike rental system before the start of the Universaide Games last year with 400 bikes available for rent at nine rental locations. By the end of January more than 100,000 residents have applied for rental cards in the three districts.

Fanqi is the first private bike rental company that offered bike rental across 18 spots in Futian, Luohu and Nanshan districts with around a thousand bikes available for rent. However due to different policies, using a unified rental card can’t be used in several rental spots in Nanshan.
