Wine of the Day: F&B Select Series Classic Dry Red
The Classic Dry Red wine has become one of the mainstays of the Australian export market to China and South East Asia. Its rich red flavours provide a neat background to the enjoyment of red wine that may not normally be within reach of many pockets. Classic Red Wines were created as an antidote to the large wine surpluses that were endemic to Australia several years ago, where surplus Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Grenache for example, were blended together to create wines of richness and variety.
Blends are constantly changing to reflect particular varietal availability, however the constant is a supply of exceptionally interesting wine that is as diverse in makeup as there are followers. The F&B brand is no exception, providing subtleness and nuances in the wine to reflect the diverse range of varietals used in its makeup. There is good fruit, colour and tannin balance, achieved by blending these varietals, also including a range of vintages, such that the mixture of old and new creates tantalising flavours to be enjoyed now.
