Plans for the Corridor Project to be Finished this Year
Plans for the Shenzhen-Zhongshan corridor project will be finished this year. The project will give Shenzhen direct road access to the Western Pearl River Delta, with the corridor’s landing site in Shenzhen to be located on the south side of the Shenzhen airport.
The corridor will then connect Jihe expressway and the Guangzhou-Shenzhen No. 2 Expressway with the Jiangzhong Expressway in Zhongshan, which is located on the western bank of the Pearl River Delta. The corridor will either go above ground or beneath the mouth of the Pearl River Delta or possibly both. According to studies, related to issues such as river navigation, flood control and flight altitude control, was launched last year.
The corridor plan is part of the Guangdong Province 12th five-year plan and one of the key projects in the Reform and Development Plan of the Pearl River Delta 2008-2020. The project will cost 30 billion yuan and once plans are finished, construction will start in 2015.
Sections of the Guangzhou-Shenzhen No. 2 Expressway, Boluo-Shenzhen expressway, the second phase of the Qingping Expressway will be finished before the year ends.
