Wine of the Day: Majestic Land Premium Shiraz
This Majestic Land we call Australia, with its wide open spaces and lush fertile valleys, produces world class wines for discerning consumers in many countries. This fine example of a Premium Shiraz is testimony to the skills of its winemakers. Warm days and cool nights epitomise the premium growing areas that produce Australia’s finest red wines, and judicious use of a selection of French and American oak give the wines a structure worthy of the finest accolades. A little known fact is that the early Shiraz plantings were to accommodate the demands for fortified wines, and it wasn’t until the 1970s that they became fashionable for use in drinking table wines.
A really intriguing mix of plummy fresh fruit with a fresh typical bright hue; a highly fragrant bouquet leaps out of the glass; finely structured, with extreme length to the spicy fruits and subtle oak. A great drink, it is soft, round and succulent, all too easy to drink with ripe redcurrant, red-cherry and dark-plum flavours, good weight and excellent integration of sweet fruit and oak.
