City to Draft a Household Medical Program Plan

City to Draft a Household Medical Program PlanAccording to the city commission of health, population and family planning is planning to create a charging plan and standard for family medical practices is now being drafted.

Under the plan more services is being planned such as adding more family doctors, family convalescent services and self paid services will be introduced. The family doctor system was introduced in 2009, but due to unclear standards and shortage of doctors made the system unpopular with the residents.

As of now patients seeking treatments at the city’s orthopedic department in Shenzhen People’s Hospital spends 17 on average in the hospital. Under the convalescent treatment patients can stay and be treated at home. Patients usually stay longer in local hospitals compared to patients in other countries and receives lesser convalescent treatments at home also compared to overseas patients.

Patients in Hong Kong are usually transferred to family doctors to complete their convalescent treatment, but in Shenzhen patients under convalescent care are done under the guidance of a doctor. And due to the lack of supervision most patients don’t finish their treatments.

Presently Shenzhen has 53 communities that are implementing programs that offer medical services for families.
