Marching Toward a Resolution – QSI Students Prepare for their Model UN Debate in Xiamen

Marching Toward a ResolutionModel United Nations members from QSI are now ready for their March 30 departure to Xiamen, located between Shenzhen and Shanghai, where they will be participating in a challenging two-day debate conference. It is going to be a fun trip for sure; however, the 18 members had to prepare for their debate before committing to joining the trip. Two months ago, every MUN member was given two topics that In Xiamen, QSI Dragons will be representing Egypt, Uganda and 6 other lucky countries. were recently hot issues. What they have to do is provide solutions for each topic, regarding the country they are going to represent. They also need to finish filling out some papers that Mrs. Sedmak has given them.

“It’s hard, and there’s a lot of work to do. But I think it’s a good opportunity to practice how to speak up in front of people and to know more about the world. I’m so excited to go,” said Eun Bee Ko from secondary II. The MUN members will share their ideas with other students from other regions by forming groups with them, based on the countries they are representing. After their discussions, whole “countries” will start debating over the best solution. During the debate, all representatives from each country will give their speeches.
