Travel in China – The Ins and Outs of Getting Around
Many people in this community are interested in traveling and wanted to know more and more information about the special places their friends have been to before. However, traveling in China by yourself without anybody’s help is not always an easy thing because the land is big and speaking Chinese is also a big challenge from the booking step.
In G4 CSOL 1 Chinese class we have talked about the different ways of traveling to the major cities in China from Shekou like Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Xiang gang (Hong Kong). Students are familiar with airplane and Taxi, but we have many different vehicles to use when you travel in this big country. We brainstormed all available vehicles you can use in China through pictures and students’ experiences, we found taking the train is the most convenient and effective way for most Chinese people when they travel across the provinces. That is why the train station is always crowed with people every Chinese Festival time, especially in Shenzhen with so many workers from other provinces.
Of course, for our students the most popular place to go is Xiang gang (Hong Kong) and most of them use Shekou Ferry very often, but taking boats is not the only way you go to Xiang gang from Shekou. Buses and Metro are also available, moreover, the prices are cheaper than taking boats.
In G4 CSOL 1 Chinese class students tried to compare the prices of taking different vehicles in China, to figure out how many different ways we can travel by family and how they can help their family to communicate when they book the tickets with Chinese language.
Learning is fun when it comes to real life experiences and students are so excited to know that they are able to understand the Chinese language when they travel in China.
