French Organization Opens Fifth Office in Shenzhen
As the trade and cultural exchanges between France and Shenzhen grow rapidly, more French people are coming to Shenzhen to find work and settle down. Although there is no official survey of the number of French people in Shenzhen it is believed that there are already more than 4,000.
To assist French expatriates and the growing French community in Shenzhen, UFE or (Union des Francais de l’Etranger, or Union of French Citizens Abroad) one of the largest organizations For French expatriates opened an office in Shenzhen the fifth one in China. The UFE’s mission is to welcome, guide and assist French people and its members worldwide in settling down and integration into new countries.
Founded in 1927, the UFE is a non profit and non political organization that is duly recognized as a public utility. It is also one of the oldest organizations representing French expatriates in 170 offices in 100 countries and counting.
The local office for UFE Shenzhen was recently inaugurated last Thursday at Grand Mercure Hotel with more than 300 guests from Southern China, Shanghai and Hong Kong in attendance to meet and greet French Minister of State for Transport Thierry Mariani who was the guest of honor. UFE Shenzhen has more than 40 members with different backgrounds, they also have members from French speaking regions and communities in America, Switzerland, Belgium and Canada.
UFE Shenzhen now joins the other UFE office found in Beijing, Chengdu, Shanghai, Wuhan and Hong Kong.
