Luohu District Planning Massive Renovations and China’s Tallest Skyscraper
Officials from Luohu are planning several urban renovations in their district. These include a 666 meter tall skyscraper that, once completed, will be the tallest building in China, even taller than Futian’s Ping An IFC, which will stand at only 648 meters tall. A low rise building will also be constructed that will match the building horizontally as the building achieves vertically.
The China Academy of Urban Planning and Design has a branch in Shenzhen and is the one in charge of the building design. The building is designed by combining a skyscraper with a low rise complex, which is said to save space and land for more development. The skyscraper will be located in the Caiwuwei financial and commercial area developed by the Kingkey group. Once the building is finished it will tower over Shenzhen and dominate the city’s most populated and expensive area.
The Kingkey group is responsible for the 441 meter tall Kingkey 100, which is the current tallest building in Shenzhen and the third tallest in China. The world’s tallest building is the Burj Khalifa, which stands at 830 meters.
The Caiwuwei area has a total area of 368,000 square meters, which is bordered by the Mixc shopping center in the East, Binhe road from the South, Hongling Road in the West and Hongbao Road in the North. Officials plan to turn the area into a world class fashion and culture center by the means of urban renovation.
In the next five years the district will be investing 100 billion yuan to renovate five major areas, namely Sungang-Qingshuihe area, Caiwuwei area, Shennandong area, Shuibei-Buxin and Liantan area.
