City to Create Accreditation System for Energy Efficiency Program
Shenzhen will be establishing an accreditation system for green buildings, public facilities, construction materials, engineering, property management and decorations that is aimed to promote green construction in the city.
The Shenzhen construction authority will be the one to give the accreditation to the construction materials, water saving products and other recyclable items. The price authority will be the one to work on the charging standard for green property management that includes energy efficiency, thermal control, water preservation, and garbage classifications. The city government is also planning to give out subsidies to residents that are willing to convert their homes by installing energy efficient home appliances.
Government funded buildings and other public funded buildings that have floor space that is more than 50,000 square meters and residential buildings with construction area of more than 100,000 square meters should be constructed in accordance to the new green standards. Hospitals, schools, sports and cultural facilities and other city renovations projects that are being planned must be also built and managed under the new standards.
