City  to Discuss Disaster Relief Plans to Prepare for TyphoonsIn a meeting that discussed disaster relief plans last week, the Shenzhen Meteorological Observatory said that the city will be hit by five or six typhoons this year with two of the typhoons to cause serious damage.

The city will be experiencing extreme weather with typhoon within a 500 kilometer radius that will pass Shenzhen between June and September. Average rainfall will reach 1,350-1450 millimeters in the flood season, accounting for 82% of this year’s total rainfall.

The city will experience heavy sustained rainfall by May and will reach up to June and high temperatures by July and August. The hot weather has already begun marking the start of summer in Shenzhen with an average temperature of 32.2 degrees, the Observatory also said that this year’s temperature might reach 37 to 38 degrees Celsius.

Residents are advised to bring umbrellas and raincoats as heavy rainfall is expected to hit the city in the next few days and temperatures will be around 21 to 31 degrees Celsius.
