Britain Hopes to Sign Cooperation Agreement with Shenzhen
After several cities sign cooperation agreements with Shenzhen, Britain also hopes to create an agreement with the city to further maintain and enhance cooperation between both cities and at the same time combat cross border crime.
British Home Office Minister Damian Green met with Vice Mayor Zhang Wen to discuss the possible trade between Britain and the city. Green said that there are leading companies in Britain that are already investing in Shenzhen as well as companies in Shenzhen establishing branches in Britain such as ZTE, China Merchants Bank and Huawei that are now penetrating the European market.
British companies are also active in several construction in Shenzhen such as the Kingkey 100 were British architects was responsible for the design of the city’s tallest building. Last year Shenzhen’s foreign trade with Britain have reached US$ 5 billion which accounts for ten percent of China’s trade with Britain that invested around US$ 1.3 billion in Shenzhen. Green also said that Britain will be hiring more Chinese staff to handle visa applications for the upcoming London Olympics.
To help fight cross border crimes Shenzhen city customs vows to strengthen information exchanges with other foreign countries.
