New Metro Line Construction to Mark Start of Qianhai Infrastructure Projects
Work on the new Metro Line 11 was launched last Friday in Nanshan district. The new Line 11 will connect central Futian District and Songgang in Bao’an District. Once the line is completed travel time from Futian central to Songgang will only take 50 minutes.
The 51.2 km main line will also go through the Futian Transport Hub, Shenzhen Bay, Chegongmiao, Zhuzilin, Shenzhen airport, Bao’an central are and Shajing. The new line will also connect Futian urban central area with the western region. It will also act as an airport express line that connects with Futian, Bao’an and Nanshan districts. The launching of the Metro Line 11 signifies the start of the infrastructure projects in the Qianhai area which includes the Qianhai Transport Hub, the 6.6 km coastal leisure belt, the 2.2 km Guimiao River corridor and several road projects.
The Qianhai Transport Hub will cover 19.5 hectares is a convergence point of the Metro lines 1, 5 and 11 and the Guangzhou/Shenzhen intercity line along with the Shenzhen/Hong Kong rail line. The construction Area will also have office buildings, shopping plazas, hotels and apartment complex.
