Unified Service Platform for City Libraries Initiated

Unified Service Platform for City Libraries InitiatedLast Sunday, a unified service platform was open for city libraries. By doing this more than 300 libraries can now share resources and services conveniently. Residents can now borrow and return books marked with a City of Library logo at any of the libraries in the city. These libraries can also issue and cancel library card through the platform.

Residents can get text messages when the deadline of their borrowed books are near, residents can also report loss library cards, extend borrowing period, or reserve a books through text message, phone call or online. Residents who called to reserve books via phone calls or online can have the books delivered to the nearest library or through a self service book lending machine.

This year there is already 167 city level and district level libraries utilizing the platform along with 160 self lending machines that have shared information and resources and have lend more than 8.5 million books to readers.

Libraries in Pingshan, Longhua, Guangming and Dapeng new area will be connected through the platform so that residents living in the area can now borrow and return books conveniently  in downtown libraries.
