Charity Run Helped Raise Money for Woman Suffering from Leukemia
200 local marathon runners decided to do a charity run to raise money for Zheng Ping, a 22 year old woman suffering from leukemia who is also a fellow marathon runner and enthusiast. The runners will be asking for donations based on the distance that they will be running.
Some runners were asking for 0.1 yuan for every step taken while other are asking for 200 yuan for every kilometer. The charity run was able to raise 28,000 yuan, but still a long way from the amount needed by the woman for treatment, which is 500,000 yuan. Shenzhen is one of the cities that cooperated with the charity run which is organized by a physical education professor at Xiamen University who organizes fun raising runs. Shanghai, Beijing and Guangzhou are several cities that hosted charity runs for Zheng.
So far around 220,000 yuan have been raised through the charity runs in the participating cities. Some of Zheng’s fellow marathon runners have decided to sell several items in the internet to help raise more funds. Currently Zheng is being treated at Xiamen No. 1 People’s Hospital and is grateful for the help and support that she is getting from people making the effort in raising money for her treatment.
