City to Start Using Natural Gas Imported from Central Asia
The Guangzhou-Shenzhen section is now in its pressure pumping stage that will last for at least ten days. Then the natural gas can be transferred from Guangzhou depot to the Guanlan depot in Shenzhen once the stage is finished. The Guangdong administration station said that if everything goes well the natural gas can be pump to Hong Kong by the end of the year.
The main line runs from west to east of the natural gas line project is part of the State 11th Five Year Plan which was placed into operation last June. The 193 kilometer Shenzhen-Guangzhou gas line is the sub line of the state project. According to the project, China National Petroleum Corporation will be providing around 4 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Shenzhen every year by 2015. The natural gas can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 7 million tons a year.
In 2008, China started working on the natural gas transmission pipeline, one of China’s second cross country gas pipeline carries natural gas from Turkmenistan and China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region across the Yangtze and Pearl River Delta.
The pipeline construction will cost 142 billion yuan and will consist of a main line plus eight sub lines. The pipeline will then traverse across 14 provinces and autonomous regions before reaching Guangdong and Shanghai.
