Making Gifts for Mothers in ECLC 1B Classroom
A mother’s love is the most powerful force in the world. May 13th was the national Mother’s Day. The teddy bear friends wanted to express their love to mothers by making cards and tissue paper flowers.
The little teddy bears folded red paper like an accordion. Then cut them out into strips; glued both edges to be a loop. Next, they made four loops and put them across each other like a flower shape. Glued onto a paper, it was a cover of a card. Teddy bears drew pictures inside of the card. One of them drew big dinosaurs; one friend drew a house and expressed there was mom, dad, sister and her living inside.
Making Tissue Paper Flowers:
Little teddy bears drew three circles onto different color tissue paper using a CD disc as a template; cut them out and then folded each circle in half and folded again into quarters with teacher’s assistance. Cut a small piece off the corner to make a hole in the center. At last, the children tied the tissue petals with a pipe cleaner; opened out the petals. It was a flower for mom.
“M” is for the million things she gave me,
“O” means only that she’s growing old,
“T” is for the tears she shed to save me,
“H” is for her heart of purest gold;
“E” is for her eyes, with love-light shining,
“R” means right, and right she’ll always be,
Put them all together, they spell
A word that means the world to me.
