City Introduce Visa Free Entry to Foreign Visitors
A 72 hour visa-free entry policy for foreign visitors will be introduced by Beijing as the city reiterates its friendly attitude toward foreigners. In a meeting with several foreign representatives, Chief of Beijing’s public security bureau Fu Zhenghua explains that the policy is a sign of Beijing’s commitment to openness while creating a safe city for its residents. Foreign visitors can enter the city without a visa and stay up to three days.
Last May 15 Beijing police launched a 100-day campaign targeting foreigners entering, living and working in the city without proper paperwork or permits. Still the campaign has not hurt the city’s friendly attitude towards foreigners. There are 200,000 foreign residents living in Beijing and a majority of the foreigners have legal status and have also contributed greatly to the development of the city.
Beijing still welcomes foreign friends to live and work in Beijing as the city sticks to its policy of reform and openness. Furthermore the police will also protect foreign visitors legitimate rights while providing convenience during their time in the city.
