Plans Released to Help Regulate Allocation of Local Housing
A drafted plan has been recently released for public comment that will help regulate the allocation of local affordable housing yesterday. The drafted plan is issued by the Shenzhen Municipal Housing and Construction Bureau specified the rules and qualifications for an applicant sequencing and for the allocation of affordable housing.
The city housing program helps low income residents in buying government subsidized apartments. Currently there are two types of apartment available in Shenzhen. There is the two room 65 square meter apartment and the three room apartment with an area between 80 to 90 square meters. The housing bureau is planning to build 240,000 affordable housing units from 2011 to 2015 with 10,000 units to be completed this year. To avoid any problems the bureau needs a well designed plan that will ensure fairness and transparency in allocation housing among its residents.
According the plans the city will create an information system for the allocation and selling of affordable housing. The plan will also help construction units and government branches to share the necessary information enabling residents to apply and check application status online.
Qualified applicants must have at least paid social insurance for three years or more, and have not benefited from any of the city’s housing preferential housing policies, does not own an apartment and have not transferred any owner occupied housing in five years before their application acceptance date. Married applicants must also abide the China’s family planning policy.
