City to Mark Achievement in Design by Holding the First Shenzhen Design Exhibition
Shenzhen gained an international reputation in becoming a rapid economic growth in the past thirty years while the city also became a star in the international design field. Several Shenzhen architects designed famous projects like the water cube in Beijing.
Around 60 percent of women’s clothes found in first class shopping malls around China are made in Shenzhen. Wang Yuefei and Han Jiaying Shenzhen based graphic designers have already reaped numerous international awards.
And to help mark the city achievements in the design field, a Shenzhen Design Exhibition will be held at the Guan Shanyue Art Museum. This exhibition will be the first of its kind and will chronicle several landmark events in the history of design in Shenzhen. The exhibition will introduce major design centers and art venues found around the city. It will also show the works of several influential Shenzhen designers. The exhibition design is sponsored by the Shenzhen Creative Culture Center.
This exhibit will be the most complete exhibition that will show the city’s design power after it was awarded the UNESCO City of Design in 2008, the first Chinese city to win the award. The organizers said that the exhibition will be touring the city once it finishes at Guan Shanyue Art Museum on June 17.
Shenzhen has long been the gateway to the Chinese mainland in the early years in the reform and opening up. By combining traditional culture and Western culture have created a unique design culture, which resulted in making Shenzhen a strong design base especially in the design sector.
