Transportation Terminal and Public Parking to Open Near Metro Station
The city’s transport commission is almost ready to open a transportation terminal and public parking that will connect Minle Station and the Metro’s Longhua Line. The terminal will cover 73,000 square meters and will include 1,014 parking places for private vehicles and 19 buses.
It will take three minutes to walk from the terminal to the Minle Station and once final inspection is done the terminal will be opened. The terminal will relieve the congestion in Futian’s central business district by reducing the number of vehicles entering Futian from Longhua. The transport commission will be installing two parking areas for bicycles at the Meilin Checkpoint and will also provide a park and ride option for two wheeled commuters.
Residents living within 5 kilometers of the Meilin Checkpoint can bike to the checkpoint and leave their bicycles there and shift to the Metro trains or public buses. The terminal will also allot 10,000 square meters for buses, using six slots for departures and use seven for arrivals. Furthermore the commission will built a taxi area using eight spots for passenger pick up and drop offs plus 72 parking slots for taxis allowing passengers transferring from green cabs to red cabs at the checkpoint.
