Drogba Signs a Two and a Half Year Deal with Shanghai Shenhua
Didier Drogba signed a two and a half year deal with Shanghai Shenhua to become one of the biggest addition to China’s Super League. The sealed deal ended months of speculations on his move making the Chelsea striker the best paid player in China with a weekly pay of 200,000 pounds.
Drogba confirmed the deal by announcing it in his website saying that he signed with the Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua FC for a two and a half year deal that will end in 2014. He will be joining up with the squad in July along with his former Chelsea teammate Nicolas Anelka who joined Shenhua in January. Drogba together with Anelka will form a fearsome strike force in the Chinese league. Shanghai Shenhua is bankrolled by video game tycoon Zhu Jun, who hopes that the new addition to the team will boost their rankings as it currently lies in 12th place.
Reigning champion Guangzhou Evergrande hopes to retain its championship title by importing South American talents and also garbbing the services of World Cup winning Italian coach Marcello Lippi in May.
