Tram Service to Connect Airport with Metro Lines
The city is considering building a tram that will ferry passengers to and from the Terminal 3 (T3) building of Shenzhen International Airport and the Airport East Station of the Metro Line 1. City officials said that the construction of the trams will consist of two phases.
The first phase will link terminal 3 with the Metro Line, then the second phases will link Shenzhen airport with Shajing Subdistrict center. Once the tram is operational it will provide convenience to passengers and residents. Airport authority said once the terminal 3 building opens in 2013 before the Spring festival it will be three times bigger its size. There will be two intercity rails, three Metro lines and three expressways to be linked with the airport area.
Airport authority also said that it usually takes ten minutes to walk to the T2 building, and it will take more time to walk to the T3 building because of the size. Taking the tram service will definitely save time and will be more convenient for passengers.
Together with the plans to build a tram system, a development plan for Sungang – Qingshuihe area was also released by the city planning authority and Louhu District Government. The plans will also include building a trams service that is linked to Metro stations.
