President Congratulates Space Crew for Successful Space Docking
President Hu Jintao praised the Shenzhou-9 crew by pushing the country’s space program to new heights by successfully completing the country’s first manual space docking. President Jintao talked with the three astronauts through phone a few days after they carried out the highly technical maneuver.
The completion of the manual docking has shown China has fully grasped the space docking technology. The conversation with the astronauts was broadcast live on State television. President Jintao said that the three astronauts made outstanding contribution to the development of the manned space program of China.
Lead astronaut Jing Haipeng said that he and his two crew members are in good condition after spending ten days in space. He also said that Chinese astronauts now have their own home in space and the three of them are proud of their country. The manual space docking was the main goal of the manned space mission and the team is currently finishing the remaining experiments before the spacecraft returns to Earth on Friday.
